Hey Everyone!
Doug informed me that tomorrow’s lesson, 4/27, is on David and Bathsheba. I thought I would post it just in case anyone else would like to read up on it. Maybe this week we can post some comments on certain things we discuss tomorrow and get some real use out of this blog.
See you tomorrow!
Here is the Breakfast list:
April 27 - Silberman
May 4 - Shinogle
May 11 - Smith
May 18 - Music
May 25 - ?
Just a reminder about our Mission Project on Saturday at North Central Baptist Church. We’ll be doing some painting & cleaning inside the church, as well as gardening & general yard work on the property. Please bring any supplies you have, as we won’t know what’s needed until we arrive.
Location:North Central Baptist Church (2102 Tidwell)
Time: 9AM to 3PM (at the latest, depending on how fast we accomplish the tasks at hand) Lunch will be provided.
Items to Bring:
Hope to see everyone there. (Rumor has it that our class had the best sign up!!)
And you shall tell it to your son on that day, saying, “Because of this God did for me when He took me out of Egypt.” Exodus 13:8 The scripture commands us to celebrate our deliverance from Egypt and specifically the Passover–when the Angel of the Lord passed over the Jewish homes marked by the lamb’s blood and spared the firstborn.
The Hebrew word seder (”order” in English) describes the way in which we partake in the meal, which involves a series of rituals commemorating the exodus from Egypt. This Seder dinner is not only relevant to Jews, but is of critical importance to Christians also, as the Passover Seder was the last supper of Jesus before being crucified. We will not only engage in Jewish rituals during our seder, but also explore the significance and symbolism of Jesus, as the passover lamb.
It is tradition to invite guests to the home to celebrate the Passover. Please join Katherine and I as we celebrate The Passover and take part in the seder. I look forward to seeing everyone there and hope all will attend.
Lauren’s Senior Art Exhibition
Wednesday, April 16, 5:30 - 8:00 (Feel free to come and go as you please) There will be light snacks and drinks. Dress how ever you feel comfortable. Some people will be in church attire while most students will be casual.
Directions to HBU:
The exhibition is in the Morris Cultural Arts Building.
It is easier to get to from Beechnut off of Hwy 59 rather than Fondren.
Go RIGHT on Beechnut if you are coming from the Beltway. Go LEFT (under the interstate) on Beechnut if you are coming from 610.
Once on Beechnut, stay straight through the Brae Acres light. You will pass Memorial Herman on your left. You will immediately see HBU’s campus. You want to enter GATE 3 on your LEFT. At the first stop sign after entering Gate 3, turn left. The Exhibition is in the huge brick building. Park anywhere in the parking lot in front of the building. You will see the Exhibition in the Great Hall (through the huge glass-doors).
Hope to see you Wednesday! Call if you have any questions. 409-651-5933

I wanted to send out a couple announcements for Sunday and the week following. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you Sunday morning.
Ethan
1) A missionary from Uzbekistan is coming to speak to our class on Sunday around 9:30. Please make an effort to be on time or a little early so you can hear him speak.
2) The baby shower for Yohannes and Julia Ajak is this Sunday at 12:15 pm in the Grand Room. Yohannes is the minister for the Sudanese congregation at Tallowood. We are being asked to bring a baby gift (for a boy) to the shower or drop it in one of the large containers in the Grand Room or at the Tallowood Center. If you can stay after the service to meet Julia and Yohannes, it would mean a great deal to them.
3) Tallowood has started an “Update Your E-Mail Address” initiative; you probably heard it during the welcome on Sunday. Please send your e-mail addresses to Alice Pullin (apullin@tallowood.org). When you send it, put “E-mail Address Updates” in the subject line; that’ll help Alice out immensely! If you’ve had any kind of change (residential, phone #, etc.), please include that as well.
4) The young adult mission project at the North Central Baptist Church will be on April 26 from 9 to 3. We will have directions for you in class this Sunday.
5) Cross Connection will meet in Fellowship Hall East on April 14th instead of the Grand Room.
Hi All.
Tonight we had to go to the emergency room with Eli. Thankfully he is ok. After 3 hours we were able to go home. He had to have his forehead super glued back together but it is not too bad. I am glad that he did not have to have stitches. He will have scar. He fell and hit the glass table at Justin’s Grandmother’s house. Thankfully it did not break. Please pray for him over the next couple of days. I am sure that he will not feel like himself. Thanks! Nicole
Hi all,
We forgot to announce this in Sunday School, but Tallowood launched a newly designed website this week! Check it out at www.tallowood.org.
Here are some upcoming events that you may want to mark on your calendar:
April 13 - Baby Shower for Tallowood’s Sudanese Pastor- Yohannes Ajak & his wife Julia are expecting their first child & don’t have many of the necessary baby items. On April 13th, please bring an upwrapped baby gift (it’s a boy!) or baby necessity (diapers, wipes, bottles, etc.) and place it in the large box in the Grand Room. There will also be a shower for the couple from 12:15 to 1pm in the Grand Room, if you are able to attend.
April 14 - Cross Connection, 5:30 in Fellowship Hall East- We will meet in conjunction with Tallowood’s church-wide outreach this month to hear and support Volodya, a missionary from Uzbekistan. There will be tables marked “Cross Connection” where we can sit together.
April 26 - Young Adult Mission Project, 9am to 3pm at N. Central Baptist Church - They will need our help with interior painting and landscaping/gardening. Kids are welcome - there are activities for them, but they should be able to help as well. A free lunch will be provided, so please sign up in class next week if you haven’t already.
Also, the church has asked for individual email addresses for our class to aid in church-wide communication. I’ll be sending those over this week, so if you would prefer Tallowood not have your email (or would like to provide a different one), please let me know.
NEXT WEEK:
Purpose: To introduce each couple to our Bible Study Class
Who: Everyone - We ask that each couple participate.
What: The idea is that you and your spouse present yourselves to the class. It should take you about 5 min. Tell the class about you as a couple, your name, where you live, where you work, if you have children, what you like to do… you know, the basics.
Make sure you share a little bit about your past like: where you grew up, where you went to school, how you met, your first date, how long you dated before you were engaged.
Silly Question: We will ask a silly question that each couple will answer. It just gives us a little insight about you.
The current question is - If the world were about to end and you had to live on the moon and you knew that your family would make it there safely, who would you take with you (living or dead) and why?
We will have a sign-up sheet in class or we can do it based on who is bringing breakfast. Let me know.
