Book Club: The Other Boleyn Girl

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

 Hi ladies!

When we were discussing “Redeeming Love,” we decided that our second book club choice would be “The Other Boleyn Girl” by Philippa Gregory. There is a movie adaptation of the book that comes out this Friday, February 29th, and hopefully it will be in the theatres for at least two weeks, so I think we should aim at having it finished by Friday, March 14th. I know that is pretty soon, and I personally am a very slow reader, but hopefully we can get it read, and then go to dinner and the movie. If it winds up taking us longer we can always just discuss it and wait until the movie comes out on video.

 Love,

Katherine

Redeeming Love

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Come for our first book club discussion and dinner! Saturday at 7pm at Martha Russell’s.

I think I’ll do something simple for dinner, please email me at marthastiver@yahoo.com so I can get a count.

Thanks!

Martha

ps- here’s a question from the discussion section to be thinking about for Saturday: In the author’s note, Francine Rivers writes, “I used to believe the purpose in life is to find happiness. I don’t believe that anymore.” What do you believe is the purpose in life?

What Makes the Gospel So Unique?

Galatians 1:1-12 and 3:1-4

It is politically correct to equate all faith traditions, making “sincererity” the litmus test. However, what Jesus did and how He did it is absolutely unique. His message of grace was new wine that couldn’t be contained in the old wineskin of law. Let’s explore the reasons why we believe, and how we can share our faith with confidence.
